Featured Driver of the Month - Visvaldas Stasiulevicius

Being polite and helpful with customers is a sure-fire way to ensure you get the same in return. That is according to this month’s featured driver, Visvaldas (Vis) Stasiulevicius.

Vis has been a Collection and Delivery (C+D) driver with Pall-Ex shareholder member Bomfords Group for just over a year and enjoys making his customers smile.

To discover more about Vis’ role and why he enjoys it so much, we spoke to him to get an insight into his career in logistics.

What made you chose a career in logistics?

“I didn’t enjoy working in the same place and having the same tasks to do day after day. It could get very boring very quickly, so I knew I wanted something different.

“I wanted a job that gave me more freedom and more personal responsibility and driving could do both of those things.

“The job hasn’t disappointed so far, and I definitely recommend that people look at a role in logistics if they are considering a change in their career.”

What does and average day look like for you?

“There is no such thing as an average day!

"They are usually long and non-stop, but the time flies by.

"I start at 06:30 every morning and my first job is to locate and load my pallets ahead of my first run of the day.

"I normally do two delivery runs a day so I’m usually out on the road as soon as the warehouse load my vehicle.

"Once I’ve made all my deliveries, the Pall-Ex team at the depot will give me my collections and I head out to make those at around 15:00. That’s what I do until the end of my day then, which usually sees me finish at around 17:00.

"It’s a physical job so it keeps me fit, but I’m normally pretty tired at the end of the day so I like to get home and watch Netflix.”

What do you dislike about the role?

“Honestly…nothing really. I enjoy everything about it.

“The only thing I would change is making deliveries in the wind and rain in the British winter. I don’t like the winters here!

“I’m from Lithuania, and over there the winters are much colder, but it is nowhere near as wet, so it is actually nicer.

“Other than that, like I said, I don’t dislike anything about my job.”

What do you enjoy most about driving and your career in Logistics?

“I love the variety of my job and the fact that no two days are ever the same!

“I get to meet so many interesting and friendly people, as well as having to find solutions to different challenges on a regular basis.

“Above all else, I really enjoy making my customers smile and seeing how happy good customer service makes them.

“I try to be as polite and as helpful as I can be, and I have found that if you do this, you tend to get the same treatment in return. It really is win, win!”

What do you think would surprise people most about your role?

“Even though, my Class 2 license is essential for my job, I think the most important part of my job is being able to communicate well and build relationships with our customers.

“Bomfords is a great company to work for and has a good reputation. I hope how I interact with our customers helps to promote that reputation even more.

“Being polite and smiling costs nothing yet it makes such a big difference!”

Finally, what are your plans for the future?

“Like I said before, Bomfords is a really good company to work for. The people are great and we all work really well together.

“The business is supporting me and helping me to take my Class 1 license early next year which I am very grateful for and excited about.

When I pass, I will hopefully continue to work on the Pall-Ex side of the business and stay with Bomfords for a long time to come.”
